The Rise of Low Carbon Power Generation
26th May 2018
The UK continues to drive down carbon emissions by the continual diversification of the energy mix. The decarbonisation trend continues to decline towards the UK Governments 2030 target. There are now more zero coal power generation days in the UK than at any other time in since the Industrial Revolution, a testament to the drive towards low carbon generation.
Offshore wind continues to play a major part in the diversity of the energy supply in the UK, with currently over 7GW of offshore wind generation capacity increasing to around 9GW by 2020.
Energy transmission trading interconnectors are set to significantly increase for the UK with a current connection capacity of around 4GW rising to around 12GW by 2022.
The integrity of the offshore subsea power cable system is vital for the reliability of the low carbon generation. Red Ensign Solutions Limited are dedicated to the support for low carbon generation and committed to engage with the industry for developing the planning, construction and operational phases of the subsea transmission infrastructure.
